Church Shopping

Perhaps it is because we have been visiting churches for the last couple of months but we have found this process quite wearing on ourselves and our kids. Churches have many different ways that they try to "entice" a person to return. It may be in the form of a basket or card or phone call. It could be a small gift like a book or coffee mug and maybe even candy for the kids. This Sunday we visited another church and halfway during the service, Naomi looked up at me and asked, "Does this church give out candy?" And I realized, we have a problem if we are visiting churches and the kids are expecting goodies.

  1. We were so tired of it that by the time we moved to Marshall, we joined the first one we visited, warts and all. It turned out all right, eventually. ;) We're praying for you guys.

  3. I commented to you on facebook, (I found your blog on your wall). Our blog is calcrew.wordpress.com. We also are looking for a new church home. We felt the Lord leading us to leave Apex for awhile (we're on a different page in regard to the house church model they are using now), and officially started looking at the end of January. It is a very grueling process with kids. Hope you find the right place soon!

  4. Well, you gotta figure that in Naomi's little heart, they said, "I love you!" to her in a language that she understands. And while there are many different languages in which they could communicate "I love you" that would please momma a bit more, I think the hard part will be to find a place where you can all hear "I love you!" (it might be four different languages, although I think candy could win over Naomi and Josiah)
